Let’s Talk About It…

Hair having magical qualities is not a new concept, but the magic system in The Weaver Bride is incredibly unique. My favorite part of this story was learning more about how the magic system worked. This book is filled with magical objects, unique abilities, and a twist at the end you won’t see coming.

I would describe this story as a murder mystery mixed with a fantasy competition. While I enjoyed both storylines, the fact that both of these were happening simultaneously made it difficult for either one of them to really get the attention they deserved. The mystery seemed to take the front stage and the moments for the competition felt shorter. I wish there had been more time on page for the character building with the women in the competition because as it was written, I didn’t feel very invested in that part of the story; however, the murder mystery made up for that. I enjoyed that this was written in a way to that made you switch you stance on who might have been responsible. I feel like this aspect of the story was well thought out, leading up to a twist at the end.

I did find that the writing style to focus a bit too much on describing the scene, to the point it could be distracting at times. Despite that, I still really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the next one.
